Charitable Contributions

You've probably noticed that most of the pages on this website, like this one, have a couple of (hopefully helpful, hopefully non-distracting) advertisements on them.  We originally started this as a way to pay for the website's expenses, like hosting fees, and it's worked well; not so well that we're out pricing new Maseratis, or even new Fords, but well enough that there's a bit left over at the end of each month.  So, a couple of years, ago, we decided that we'd donate 10% of the gross advertising revenues to charity. 

Obviously, if it wasn't for you, our readers, there would be no money to donate - so, thank you!  One more reason to feel good about yourself, eh?  And one more reason to feel good about this website. 

Below is a list, in alphabetical order, of some of the charities and nonprofit organizations donations have been made to:

You might, at this point, be wondering what criteria we use to select an organization worthy of a donation.  Unless it's an organization we're fairly well acquainted with, we usually go to the Charity Navigator website to see how it's rated.  If an organization has a rating of less than three stars, we don't donate. 

Also, we've removed from the above list certain charities (like Greenpeace!) that we once donated to and then received constant irritating telemarketing calls from as a result.
