If you are of a certain age and, I suppose, gender, then the Dirty Harry series of films starring Clint Eastwood will hold a place of prominence in your psyche. Being a male with the requisite number of years under my belt, I can assure readers that I spent numerous years hearing the ubiquitous phrase, "Go ahead, make my day," as well as the only slightly less popular, "Do you feel lucky, punk?" (The former phrase was so ubiquitous that I vaguely recall an episode of Newhart featuring a potato that resembled the profile of - I think - Clint Eastwood, and the memorable line, "Go ahead - bake my day.")
Anyway . . .
If you're going to watch, or re-watch, the five Dirty Harry films, it makes sense to do so in order:
- Dirty Harry (1971)
- Magnum Force (1973)
- The Enforcer (1976)
- Sudden Impact (1983)
- The Dead Pool (1988)
Some of the movies are better than others, but all are worth seeing.
