Some - perhaps most - of the web pages on this website are well thought out, and have a definite purpose that is fulfilled at the time of the page's creation. A few, such as this one, may be more correctly considered to be works in progress. Certainly, what follows is less than a completely exhaustive study of the subject.
English being my first and, sadly, pretty much my only language, I grew up unaware that some old rock songs had been recorded in other languages, notably Spanish. Then one day a Cuban friend began singing "Venus" in Spanish, and said it was on the radio a lot when she was growing up. The experience left me with the idea of some day doing research to see what other well-known old rock songs had been recorded in Spanish, but it was less than a high priority, and I gradually forgot the idea.
Then, last week, I was watching the 1996 movie Lone Star, and in one of the film's scenes a woman played a recording of "Since I Met You Baby" in Spanish. Naturally, I decided I needed to make a list of "Old (English Language) Rock Songs in Spanish," since I already had two songs. The term "rock," as discussed elsewhere on this website, is used loosely.
The list follows, and will be added to as I slowly discover more songs. If this is a list of interest to you, dear reader, then all I can advise is patience. And where one can find these songs is, at the moment, still a mystery to me, though you can find some Freddy Fender recordings of some of these songs.
